When I first discovered my love for planting, I wanted to start with the easiest plant to grow and handle. This is my personal favorite the Money Plant the one found in almost every house. With all due respect to this plant this is the easiest to grow, taken care of, and propagate.
Growing pothos in the water is a hands-on method of propagating money plants.
Things you need in this method are:
- Healthy nodes of the money plant, the number may vary as per your interest. one may start with just one node to n number.
- Any transparent glass bottle or glass so that you know the development of the roots.
- Tap or distilled water.
Fill your container with water and put the plant from the cut side down into the water and make sure that the lower end does not have any leaves on it and the nodes are soaking in water.
Congratulations, your first plant is ready but make sure you keep the following points in mind after you have propagated your money plant.
- change the water every week because the plants need oxygen to grow. The water loses it with time.
- Direct sunlight may adversely affect the leaves. Keep them away from direct sunlight.
- Regularly clean the vase or jar in which you have kept the money plant to keep any algae at bay. Make sure to replace the plant in another pot of water while cleaning the first one.
- It is suggested to add the dilute liquid fertilizer of 1/4 strength to the water. You can add this fertilizer to the water every 4-6 weeks.
Pro tip: To grow healthy roots take (as many as you can) healthy nodes of money plant.
